New Children's opera: Little Red-Cap

The Savonlinna Opera Festival is once again giving its audiences a chance to see a new children’s opera second to none. Called Little Red-Cap, it is not exactly a traditional version of Little Red Riding Hood; rather, it ties together two tales featuring the Big Bad Wolf. Cast in the leading roles are, among others, Markus Suihkonen and Sanna Matinniemi, winners of the 2015 Timo Mustakallio Competition, and finalist Maiju Vaahtoluoto. The director is the experienced Ville Saukkonen and the designer of the sets and costumes is Tyra Therman.

Lasting about an hour, the opera is suitable even for very young children. There will be three performances (all in Finnish): at 18 on July 11 and at 15 on July 12 and 18. Read more and book tickets here.
