Olavinlinna Castle is 550 years old. The world’s northernmost medieval castle has witnessed tales and hidden secrets, standing proud in war and peace. In 2025, the Opera Festival will focus on the crème de la crème.
During the centenary year, Olavinlinna will showcase highlights from past decades. Classics that have touched audiences and made the Opera Festival world-famous. The mighty Boris Godunov, Verdi’s Macbeth and Puccini’s Turandot are particularly impressive in the castle. The summer’s novelty is The Last Temptations, a new interpretation of the beloved Finnish opera.
Fascinating baroque performances are the cherry on the cake. Our guest performers bring the oldest music ever heard at an Opera Festival to the castle. And, of course, we celebrate the hero of the hour: the season opens with a concert in Olavinlinna with soloists and orchestra.
