The restaurants at Olavinlinna offer delicious refreshments to complement your opera evening. Take a moment to immerse yourself in the castle’s unique atmosphere before the performance begins, or enjoy refreshments during the intermission. Doors to Olavinlinna open 1 hour and 15 minutes before the show, and you can already enjoy your pre-ordered refreshments in the main foyer. Weather permitting, the castle terrace is also open one hour before the performance.

Intermission Refreshments
Intermissions are relatively short – about 30 minutes – so when booking your refreshments, it’s a good idea to check your seat location on your ticket. Refreshments can be booked at any of four points: the Vesiportti (Water Gate) immediately after the entrance to the Castle, the Linnantupa (Castle Hall) off the passage leading to the auditorium, the Paksu bastioni (Thick Tower) on the far right of the auditorium, or on the terrace on the castle walls. The last of these has a fantastic view. We will recommend the point most easily accessible from your seat. The menu is the same in each. You’ll find a variety of drinks, wines, and sweet or savoury treats available. You can also order and pay on the spot if you do not wish to book in advance.
Please note: for performances and concerts with two intermissions, refreshments can only be pre-ordered for the first intermission.

Opera Dinner
Enjoy a delicious dinner in the unique setting of Olavinlinna before the evening performance! An opera dinner is the perfect way to set the mood and indulge in flavours crafted from high-quality Finnish ingredients.
The dinner menu includes highlights such as tartare made from cold-smoked pike from Kerimäki served on archipelago bread, tender whiskey-braised beef, a summery vegetable and halloumi skewer, and lemon pie with Hovimäki strawberries.

Lanson Champagne Bar
In summer 2025, the popular Lanson Champagne Bar returns to the upper terrace of Olavinlinna! Enjoy a glass of fine champagne while taking in breathtaking views of Lake Saimaa. The bar is open (weather permitting) before evening performances from 6 PM and during intermissions. Please note: reservations cannot be made for the champagne bar.
