The Barber of Seville

Gioachino Rossini

The Barber of Seville is perfect for a summer’s night – bright and sprightly music combined with entertaining theatre. Fashion designer Teemu Muurimäki’s enchantingly exuberant yet super stylish costumes, eye-catching sets, Kari Heiskanen’s visionary direction and Rossini’s musical mastery go together like celebrations and champagne.

The success of the performance is ensured by a fresh cast of soloists experts on Italian repertoire. Rosina is courted by Count Almaviva, whose role is performed by Finland’s number one tenor, the internationally acclaimed Tuomas Katajala.

The Opera Festival has been postponed to summer 2021 due to the coronavirus epidemic. This summer’s programme will be performed in Olavinlinna in one year’s time. If you have bought or reserved a ticket for summer 2020, don’t worry. Your reservation has been moved to next year. Read more here.
