Friday 25 October is not only the birthday of Georges Bizet and Johann Strauss II but also World Opera Day. Taking place for the sixth time, it’s a celebration for opera organisations, opera companies, opera festivals and opera lovers around the world.

This year, we want to celebrate Finnish opera and its milestone work, Joonas Kokkonen’s The Last Temptations, which will mark its 50th anniversary in 2025. In the lead role of director Mikko Kouki’s new interpretation sings bass Mika Kares, one of the most successful opera singers in the world today. Also on stage are Finnish favorites Silja Aalto, Johan Krogius, and Laura Malmivaara.
On Friday, October 25th, we are offering a 25% discount on all performances of The Last Temptations in summer 2025 (price categories 1-3).
- Discounted tickets can be purchased online or at the Opera Festival ticket office (Olavinkatu 27, Savonlinna) on Friday, October 25th from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
- The discount is valid only on Friday, October 25th, from 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM.
- No purchase limits.
