Singer, the stage of Olavinlinna Castle is calling you! We are now looking for new singers for the choir in summer 2027.
Savonlinna Opera Festival Choir is renowned for its vibrant sound, musical punch, and powerful stage presence. The size of the festival choir varies yearly according to the repertoire and in the summer 2027, the choir size will be about 70 singers. Summer 2027 repertoire can be found here.
The singers are chosen for one year tenures based on auditions. Currently the choir’s rehearsal schedule includes 2-3 weekend rehearsal workshops in Helsinki. The duration of the festival season in Savonlinna is approximately five weeks, from mid-June to the end of July.
The Opera Festival takes place in the medieval Olavinlinna Castle in the middle of Lake Saimaa, meaning the choir works in exceptional conditions compared to a traditional opera house. The steep stairs, winding passageways, and changing weather demand a lot — but in return, it offers a working environment that is unique, inspiring, and unforgettable.
To apply for an audition for the Savonlinna Opera Festival Choir please fill the application form HERE with your current CV and a link to video recording (e.g. a YouTube link) of operatic repertoire on August 31st at the latest. We only accept applications submitted through the application form, so it is not advisable to send your application by email or through other channels.
After a video qualifying the chosen ones will be asked to an audition arranged in Helsinki 17.–18.10.2026.
