Karita Mattila

Grand Festive Gala

She’s never indifferent, never nondescript, always electrifying. La Karita is celebrating with a grand festive gala, accompanied by the Opera Festival Orchestra and conductor Hannu Lintu. This event is the talk of the summer.

The gala concert programme includes arias from Karita Mattila’s favourite roles, such as Ariadne, Elisabeth from Tannhäuser and her latest love, Isolde.

It’s been nearly 40 years since she won the Lappeenranta Singing Competition and BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition, and her iconic career continues as strong as ever. The radiance of this opera prima donna is impossible to match – there is only one Karita Mattila.

The New York Times article about Karita.

To help you enjoy the performance without concerns and crowds, we take safety extremely seriously and adhere to all official guidelines, as do all our partners.

To ensure safe distancing, we are prepared to stage two concerts on each performance date. This means the audience will be divided into two identical smaller concerts rather than all attending one larger event. The decision about additional concerts will be made during the spring according to the pandemic situation. If you have a ticket for the concert, read more here.
